A Lexus LC F will arrive as a high-performance range-topping model at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, with a new 600bhp 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8, says an insider.
The Lexus LC is the car that should never have been, designed as a concept to show direction but turned in to a production car when the world said ‘Wow’.So now the Lexus LC is on sale in the UK with either a 3.5 litre Atkinson Cycle V6 and an electric motor delivering 354bhp in the LC 500h, or a 467bhp 5.0 litre V8 in the LC 500 – both costing the same £76,595.
We had expected Lexus to use hybrid technology to deliver a far more powerful LC F at some point, but it seems we may have been wide of the mark, with Car and Driver reporting a Lexus insider saying the LC F will debut this year – but with a new V8 twin-turbo.
Apparently, the LC F is going to get a new twin-turbo 4.0 litre Lexus V8 created by bolting together a pair of the Lexus 2.0 litre turbo engines you find in cars like the NX 200t of IS 200t.
In the LC F the insider says it will produce 600bhp, driven through a 10-speed auto, and come with a sporty body kit including fixed rear wing, deep front splitter, bonnet vents and rear air vents.
It’s an appealing prospect, and also one which holds the promise of more power for the RC F and GS F too if the new engine finds its way there, although it will be a shame to lose the naturally aspirated V8.
