The new Kia Stonic – Kia’s compact SUV – will cost from £16,295 in the UK, rising to £20,495 for the range-topping Stonic. Order books open in the UK.

The Kia Stonic was revealed back in June as a new compact SUV sitting below the Sportage in Kia’s SUV range, and Kia’s take on the new Hyundai Kona.

On the face of it, the Stonic isn’t as funky as the Kona, but Kia are offering plenty of customisations for the little SUV to make it as individual as possible.

Although more Stonic models will undoubtedly arrive, to kick things off there’s a choice of ‘2’ and ‘First Edition’ models available, and a choice of a 1.4 litre petrol with 98bhp, 1.0 litre T-GDi petrol with 118bhp or a 108bhp 1.6 litre diesel. All engines come with a six-speed manual gearbox and Kia’s intelligent stop-start.

Kia say the mid-range ‘2’ trim and range-topping ‘First Edition’ are the only trim levels as that’s what the UK market wants, and even the ‘2’ grade gets a decent spec.

It includes 17″ alloys, Air Con, electric windows, roof rails, Bluetooth, auto lights, cornering lights, body coloured bumpers, mirrors and door handles, 7″ display with DAB, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The ‘First Edition’ models add Keyless, 7″ touchscreen Sat Nav, Blind Spot Detection, stainless steel pedals, cloth and faux leather upholstery, Climate, Privacy Glass, heated fronts eats and a dual height luggage floor.

The order book for the new Kia Stonic is now open, with the Stonic 2 from £16,295 and the Stonic First Edition from £20,495.
