The Grand Tour – now in a TENT in the Cotswolds
The Grand Tour – Amazon’s take on Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond and May – is to be based in the Cotswolds for Series 2, rather than roaming the globe in a tent.
After the Top Gear fallout with Clarkson, the Top Gear crew of Clarkson, Hammond and May took Amazon’s shilling and delivered The Grand Tour as a glossier, bigger budget take on the Top Gear format. And, just like Top Gear, it was good in parts. We could live without ‘The American’ and the ‘Dead Celebrity’ bits, but the location filming was even better than it was on Top Gear, and the banter was still there.
To excite interest for The Grand Tour across the globe, The Grand Tour decided to live up to its name by taking a studio tent to base the show in a new location around the globe for every episode – which was a huge logistical challenge.
But having been there and done that, The Grand Tour is now doing what every middle class, middle age Brit wants to do – it’s settling down in the Cotswolds.
For Series 2, all the studio stuff will be filmed, still in a big tent, in the Cotswolds, close to Clarkson and Hammond’s country homes and in the grounds of the Great Tew Estate where Soho House has their country outpost.
It’s caused a bit of upset with the neighbours – who have objected to the extra traffic it will generate during filming – but it makes life a lot easier for the ailing and middle age trio of presenters – and their long-suffering crew.
If you want to try and grab tickets for The Grand Tour filming, you can jump over to Amazon and give it a go. But you only have a few days to do it.
