2018 Range Rover OFFICIALLY revealed including HYBRID – costs from £79,595 to £177,030

The new 2018 Range Rover has been revealed with similar cosmetic improvements to the Sport, a new plug-in hybrid version and more luxury.

When we published a promotional video of the 2018 Range Rover yesterday after it leaked online (Land Rover had it taken down later) it seemed likely the reveal of the 2018 Range Rover was imminent. And it was.

What we get is what we saw yesterday; a slightly slicker looking Range Rover with very similar updates to those revealed for the 2018 Range Rover Sport very recently.

The front gets that slicker ‘Velar’ grille, there’s integrated tail pipes at the back right across the range, new lighting options including Pixel-Laser High Beam, a couple of new colours, half a dozen new alloy designs, and two new styling packs – Black Exterior and Shadow Exterior.

But, just like the Sport, the biggest changes have been reserved for the interior of the new Range Rover.

That means the arrival of the Touch Duo Pro Infotainment with its pair of 10″ screens which, together with the 12″ instrument display, put just about everything you want to do in the hands of a screen. It looks suitable upmarket and of the moment.

The seats also get more more accommodating, there’s a 4G WiFi hotspot for up to eight toys, new ambient lighting, a couple of new cubby holes for ‘stuff’ and even JLR’s ‘Activity Key’.

The back of the Range Rover gets more sumptuous too, with improved seats with a plethora of massage functions, more connectivity and, if you opt for the less practical four-seat Executive rear cabin it can now be un-deployed electrically to give you back five seats when you need them. Not before time.

Under the skin the big change is as it was for the Sport – the 2018 Range Rover PHEV plug-in hybrid.

With the same P400e badge, the hybrid powertrain uses a 296bhp 2.0 litre petrol mated to an electric motor for a total system output of 398bhp, enough for a sub-seven second 0-62mph (6.4s to 60mph).

Land Rover say it will deliver 101mpg, an electric range of 31 miles and a rapid charging time of 2 hours 45 minutes. None of which will actually happen in the real world.

The 2018 Range Rover is now available to order at Land Rover’s UK dealers, with prices nudging up a bit. That means prices start at £75,595 for the TDV6 Vogue and climb to the lofty heights of the V8 S/C SVAutobiography LWB at £177,030.
