Eon rolling out 10,000 Ultra Fast EV Charging points in Europe
Eon is the latest firm to announce ultra fast electric car charging points, planning to install 10,000 new points across Europe and the UK by 2020.
Last week we reported the plans by the Ionity consortium of BMW, VW, Mercedes and Ford to roll out a network of ultra fast electric car charging points across the UK and Europe, as electric cars reach the tipping point where businesses start to see the economic sense of offering charging facilities. That announcement came hot on the heels of other charging point plans by Shell in the UK to offer EV charging on it forecourts and BP to do something similar.
Now it’s the turn of energy giant Eon to get in on the act, with the announcement they will install 10,000 new ultra fast electric car charging points across the UK and Europe in the next two years.
Eon are calling their EV charging plans ‘Freedom is Electric’ and say the ultra-fast charge network will offer 150 kW charges (with a modular upgrade to 350 kW), enough for around 250 miles of range in under 30 minutes. Assuming your EV can take it.
To promote the new charging point plans – and highlight their new EV charging domestic tariff for UK EV owners – Eon has delivered a video (below) showing a bunch of mad electric vehicles – including the Raesr Tachyon Speed, an electric monster truck, an EV superbike and a plethora of other EVs – to show just what electric power can do.
