Land Rover marks its 70th Anniversary with LIVE broadcast
Today, 30 April 2018, is the 70th anniversary of the very first Land Rover’s reveal at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1968, and Land Rover are celebrating with a live broadcast.
It’s 70 years today since the very first Land Rover – the 4×4 which eventually became known as the Land Rover Defender – was first revealed at the Amsterdam Motor Show, so Land Rover has decided the best way to celebrate is with a live broadcast tonight at 8pm (BST) to celebrate not just Land Rover’s cars but the people who love them. It’s World Land Rover Day.Expect to see not just everything from the first utilitarian Land Rover to the latest Range Rover, but to be regaled with stories of how a Land Rover can go where no other car can, it’s work in inhospitable areas around the world and how its go anywhere abilities have delivered aid to the needy for seven decades.
Land Rover models on-screen will include ‘HUE’ – the first prototype Land Rover – the original two-door Range Rover and the original Discovery, as well as newer stuff which has helped define the modern Land Rover, like the Range Rover Evoque and Velar.
Also on stage will be the very early Land Rover pre-production model being restored by Land Rover Classic, and one of the Defender Works V8 already revealed to celebrate the 70th anniversary.
Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover SEO, said:
Land Rover is so much more than just the most capable all-terrain vehicles. It connects people through a passion for adventure and making more of our world. From our employees to customers and enthusiasts, this is the family that makes Land Rover special.
