Regularly under ATTACK in your Skoda? You need Skoda’s new armoured Superb Estate

An armoured Skoda Superb Estate has been launched with PAS 300 certification for civilian protection promising high levels of bullet and blast resistance. Costs from £118,688.

An armoured Skoda Superb Estate is not really a market you would think would be worth Skoda’s effort; presumably those in need of an armoured car would opt for something a bit more upmarket?

But perhaps the world is actually full of under-threat civilians, regularly bombarded by blasts and gunfire, who want to be rather more incognito than they would be in an armoured S-Class or Range Rover? Skoda clearly thinks so, as it launched an armoured version of the Superb Estate. And it costs £118,688.

A joint venture between Skoda and a UK specialist, the armoured Superb Estate gets bullet-resistant glass, high strength steel and composites and a passenger cell reinforced to comply with PAS 300 requirements.

Skoda has beefed-up the suspension and braking to cope with the additional weight, added tyres which will run when deflated and added emergency lighting.

As far as we can see, the starting point is the 197bhp 2.0 litre diesel engine, and it seems that remains without any increase in power. Which, depending on just how heavy the armoured Skoda is (Skoda aren’t saying) could prove less than helpful in a situation where rapid departure is needed.

Still, if you’re in the market for a budget armoured car then the £118,688 Skoda Estate is a chunk less than just about any other armoured car.
