McLaren cars to be 100% HYBRID by 2025 with 18 NEW models

McLaren: 100% Hybrid and 18 new models in seven years

McLaren: 100% Hybrid and 18 new models in seven years

McLaren has announced its Track25 pan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, planning 100 per cent hybrid cars and 18 new models by 2025.

McLaren are busy mapping out where there road cars are going, and has announced a new ‘Track25’ plan at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, declaring where the company will be by 2025.

The headline is the plan to make all McLaren cars hybrid in the next seven years, and that includes new augmented driving features and a superfast-charging battery system which will allow its cars over 30 minutes of track time on a single charge. Which is a big promise.

Following an ethos most famously espoused by Colin Chapman, McLaren will also focus on low weight as the best way to improve their cars, a process already started by the new McLaren Composites Technology Centre, a focussed centre soon to open which will lead to 57 per cent (by value) of car content UK sourced.

There’s also the promise of a successor to the McLaren P1 – which isn’t the BP23 or Senna – and a rise in sales to 6,000 a year, with a total of 18 new models and derivatives within seven years, with more done to improve the owning experience, including better vehicle tracking and over-the-air software updated.

Mike Flewitt, McLaren CEO, said:

We are a luxury brand that is committed to investing in innovation, whether that’s in the development and manufacture of our own carbon fibre tubs as part of a new £50m British-based production centre, new powertrains with our entire range due to be hybrid by 2025 or the deployment of technology to enhance the driving and owning experience.
