The Toyota Yaris Y20 alongside the original 1999 Toyota Yaris
Toyota is updating the Yaris range for 2019, including a new model – the Yaris Y20 – paying homage to the original Yaris, launched 20 years ago.
The Toyota Yaris has been with us for 20 years, having debuted at the 1998 Paris Motor Show, so, as Toyota prepare to update the Yaris range for 2019, we get a new Yaris – the Yaris Y20 – to pay homage to that very first Yaris, and also to become a key part of the new Yaris range in 2019.The initial run of the Yaris Y20 will be just 1,998 cars (see what Toyota did there?) featuring a gold paint job just like the launch Yaris in 1998 (side by side above), but with the modern addition of a contrast dark grey roof.
Once buyers have gobbled up the Limited Edition Y20, the Y20 becomes part of the Yaris range and can be had in Silver, White or Black – all with contrast grey roof – 16″ grey machine-faced alloys, grey side mouldings, mirrors and fog surrounds, privacy glass and Y20 badging.
Inside gets a bit of a Y20 makeover too with dark grey centre console, steering wheel inserts and chequered cloth. There’s also some satin chrome highlights and Y20 badging.
The Toyota Yaris Y20 will debut at the Paris Motor Show, together with the rest of the revised Yaris range.
