Practically perfect 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 2+2

E-Type UK, one of the best E-Type specialists there is, reveals a 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 2+2 restored to absolutely sublime standards.

Last year we reported on a Restomod of a 1974 Series 3 V12 Jaguar E-Type Roadster which, despite cries of ‘sacrilege’ from ‘keep it as it was’ classic car lovers, was a truly exceptional example of how to make a classic car fit for the 21st century.

It was good to see E-Type UK taking the less loved Series 3 V12 E-Type Roadster and giving it such lavish treatment, but now they’ve done something equally as impressive to 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 2+2.

The Series 3 E-Type is still the least-loved of the E-Types and, despite Jaguar selling as many 2+2s as Roadsters, the 2+2 is the least loved of all. But that hasn’t stopped E-Type UK’s client lavishing levels of love and money on this car you would normally expect to be reserved for a Series 1 Roadster.

The plan was to deliver an E-Type which retained its classic E-Type personality, but with subtle updates to make it fit to use.

E-Type UK set out by taking the original car, fully stripping it, returning botched repairs to the body back to original specs, fitting a bespoke aluminium bonnet to reduce front end weight and treating it to an Opalescent Gunmetal paint job.

The engine was rebuilt with fuel injection and bigger throttle bodies, uprated cooling system, uprated adjustable suspension with anti-roll bar and uprated bushes, AP Racing brakes, 16″ Turino wire wheels and 5-speed gearbox.

Inside, the E-Type was treated to a full re-trimmed Oxblood Red interior, a 15″ wooden steering wheel, LED dash light conversion, period-look inertia belts and a period stereo hiding stuff like Bluetooth.

Let’s hope this restoration encourages more classic car lovers to dig deep and treat the V12 2+2 to so much love.

If only we had pockets deep enough.
