Pininfarina Battista heading for Goodwood
The new Pininfarina Battista, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show as a 1,900bhp electric hypercar, is heading for a UK reveal at Goodwood next week.
Electric cars have gone from being niche models just a few years ago to being almost mainstream now, but the inevitable consequence of that is that EVs will also expand to cover all the car niches there are, from tiny little urban cars – like the electric Smart – to Hyper GTs. Like the Pininfarina Battista.Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this month, the Pininfarina Battista is, to a great extent, an electric Rimac under the skin, but it comes with a glorious body, as you’d expect from Pininfarina.
Pininfarina claim it’s the fastest road-legal car ever to come out of Italy, and with its massive 1,900bhp, 0-62mph in under 2.0 seconds (and 186mph in just 12.0 seconds) it’s a valid claim. And it also has a claimed range of 300 miles, although probably not if you make the most of the performance.
Pininfarina are building just 150 Battistas (50 of which are coming to Europe) and have already tied up with HR Owen in London and Rybrook in Birmingham as dealers to serve the UK. Now, the Battista is heading for the UK next week at the Goodwood Members Meeting on 1 April.
On hand will be Pininfarina development driver Nick Heidfeld who, as well as being an ex-F1 driver of some talent, just happens to be the man who has gone up Goodwood’s Hillclimb the quickest. Not that he’ll be attempting that in the Battista. At least not next week.
But perhaps at the Festival of Speed in July?
