Toyota extends ‘Scrappage’ scheme
Toyota has extended its scrappage scheme – offering discounts for trading old cars – again, this time with up to £2,500 off a new Yaris.
As the backlash against diesels started to gain momentum in 2017, car makers ploughed in to ‘Scrappage’ schemes to entice owners of older, more polluting, cars to jump in to showrooms and buy something nice and new and more emission friendly.Toyota joined the scrappage circus in September 2017, offering up to £4,500 off a new Toyota if you traded in your old car, a car which had to be registered before June 2011 and be a car you’d owned for at least six months.
At the time, Toyota said it was a three month window of opportunity to get rid of your old smoker and grab a new Toyota, but its success has seen Toyota shift an extra 12,000 cars since, so the scrappage deal has been extended time and time again. And now it’s available for another three months.
This 2019 ‘Spring Scrappage’ offer from Toyota focuses on the Aygo and petrol versions of the Yaris, with £2,000 off the price of a new Aygo and £2,500 off a new petrol-engined Yaris. It also helps that the Aygo x-trend and Yaris Icon Tech come with a zero per cent finance deal at the moment.
Toyota say this scrappage deal is only open for three months. But we have a sneaky suspicion it will be slightly revised and renewed when this offer is over.
