This is the BMW M5 Edition 35 Years
It’s 35 years since the very first BMW M5 arrived and changed fast performance saloons forever, so BMW are celebrating with the BMW M5 Edition 35 Years.
Car makers love an anniversary to hang an expensive model on, and BMW are no different. So with 2019 marking 35 years (not exactly a significant number) we’re being treated to an expensive M5 Competition with 35 Years badges – the inventively named BMW M5 Edition 35 Years.BMW are building 350 of their M5 Edition 35 Years for the global market, starting in July, but there’s no word on how many will be RHD for the UK market, nor how much they’ll cost. But it’ll be six figures.
Basically, you get an M5 Competition, which means a 4.4 litre V8 with 61bhp and 553lb/ft of torque – which really is enough – which will get you to 62mph in a ridiculous 3.3 seconds and on to knocking on the door of 200mph, with power going to all four wheels as needed through an eight-speed auto ‘box.
The titivations for this anniversary model include a special Matte Finish BMW Individual Frozen Dark Grey paint job, a set of unique 20″ alloys covering gold brake calipers (or black if you must).
There’s more gold going on inside with some gold anodised carbon trim, black leather with gold stitching and a smattering of ’35 Years’ Badges.
If you want to celebrate BMW’s 35th Anniversary of the M5 with this, best you scoot of to your local BMW dealer sharpish.
