SEAT Mii Electric arrives
The SEAT Mii Electric arrives with the same underpinnings as the new Skoda Citigo e iV as SEAT decides to stop building the ICE Mii and offer just the Mii EV.
Just last week the Skoda Citigo e iV electric City Car arrived as Skoda used the basic underpinnings from the VW e-Up! to deliver their own electric City EV.Fortunately, Skoda addressed the issue that makes the VW e-Up! such a woeful buy by fitting a proper 36.8kWh battery pack to deliver a range of 160 miles, which is more than good enough for a City Car.
Now it’s SEAT’s turn to deliver their take on the VW e-Up!, and fortunately they’ve taken Skoda’s lead and fitted the SEAT Mii Electric with the same 36.8kWh battery pack to deliver a properly practical electric City Car. Which is probably just as well, as SEAT are planning on dropping production of the ICE Mii this summer.
That decent battery pack delivers a range of 162 miles officially – twice that of the VW e-Up! – delivering juice to the 82bhp electric motor with 156lb/ft of torque. It’s enough to get to 31mph in a nippy 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed of 81mph.
The SEAT Mii looks little different to the current ICE Mii – and even has a grille – but it gets new 16″ alloys and illuminated badges, as well as a titivated interior with new dashboard, heated seats, Lane Departure Warning, Cruise, Traffic Sign Recognition and parking sensors.
Luca de Meo, President of SEAT, said:
The market is changing, and electrification is expanding at an unprecedented rate. In Europe, the electric vehicle market grew by 46% in the first 4 months of the year, moving forward we expect electrified vehicles to play an important role within our range.
The Mii electric is the start of that journey, and at the same time brings to the market an affordable electric car.
How affordable the Mii electric will be we’re yet to discover, but SEAT say they will reveal prices ahead of an Autumn on sale.
