Aston Martin DB9 GT arrives as ‘The very best of DB’
The Aston Martin DB9 GT has been revealed ahead of a debut this weekend at Goodwood with 540bhp from its naturally aspirated V12. Costs £140,000.
The Aston Martin DB9 GT – revealed today ahead of a debut at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed at the weekend – may well be the final run-out DB9, as Aston moves towards the DB11 in a year or so. But it looks to be perhaps the most appealing DB9 yet.In fact, Aston are calling the 540bhp DB9 GT – 30bhp up on the normal power output – not just the best DB9 so far, but the most compelling DB to date.
The extra 30bhp gets the DB9 GT to 62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 183mph, which are actually only very marginal gains over a standard DB9.
Adaptive dampers – with Normal, Sport and Track modes – are standard, there’s a black diffuser at the back and black splitter at the front, new 20″ alloys, GT badges, Aston’s new Infotainment, tweaked lights, Alcantara steering wheel and GT badges on the seats.
Marek Reichman, Aston’s Chief Creative Officer, said:
The purity of form and proportion, together with a lithe powerful, stance, remain at the core of what the DB9 is to look at. With these changes, we have made the DB9 GT yet more stylish, while retaining its unmistakable and globally renowned identity.
As well as revealing the DB9 GT – which goes on sale in September – Aston has announced changes for its 2016 model lineup, with the Vantage and Rapide getting a new touch sensitive centre console, the Vantage S and Rapide S Aston’s new Infotainment and new colour and trim options across the range.
