Despite reports today stating that AM are going to build 150 Aston Martin V12 Zagato, we’re sure the number will be less – probably 89 or 99.
We’ve had an email or three in this morning asking if the story that Aston Martin will be building 150 V12 Zagatos is true. It’s not.
Or at least it’s not according to our very well-connected Aston source. He told us some time ago that the V12 Zagato is to go in to limited production and that the target price would be £300-350k. These latest reports put the price at £330k – bang on the range we predicted.
But he’s adamant this morning that the number is likely to be a lot less than 150 (although AML would love to make that many) and hasn’t even been finalised yet.
We assume that the Aston Martin sales is currently busy going through its little black book of super-wealthy Aston nuts to see who’s prepared to part with a large chunk of the folding stuff in exchange for a limited edition AM Zagato.
As we said before, the likely number will be either 89 or 99. That fits nicely with the capacity available and is also in line with the last AM Zagato outing – the Aston Martin DB7 Zagato.
All this said, Aston Martin will probably discover a whole heap of people prepared to shell out over £300k for the V12 Zagato and make all this a nonsense.
But that’s very unlikely.
