Aston Martin Valhalla
The Aston Martin AM-RB 003 – an Aston Hypercar to rival cars like LaFerrari and McLaren P1 – looks set to be called the Aston Martin Valhalla, Aston’s boss hints.
It’s hard to call the Aston Martin AM-RB 003 a ‘baby’ Valkyrie, but in essence that’s what it is.
Revealed in Geneva last week, the AM-RB 003 is the third mid-engined Aston Martin to be revealed – joining the Valkyrie and Vanquish – and developed with Red Bull Advance Technologies and offering a more ‘friendly’ take on a hypercar than the Valkyrie – and at a lower price (around £1 million)..
The Aston Martin take on a hypercar works well, there’s lots of clever downforce stuff going on, Active Suspension and a V6 hybrid powerplant which is going to have deliver sizeable amounts of power to compete with cars like the McLaren Senna.
But, just like the Valkyrie’s initial AM-RB 001 tag, the AM-RB 003 will get a new name for production, and the sensible money is on Valhalla, with Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer dropping heavy hints in that direction to Automotive News. Interestingly, Valhalla is where the chosen slain in battle go at the whim of Valkyrie.
Aston say the Valhalla – if that is what it is to be called – will surpass existing hypercars when it arrives, and there will be just 500 built – almost exactly the same as LaFerrari.
