The new Audi A1 Citycarver, a high-riding take on the A1 Sportback, goes on sale in the UK with prices starting at £22,040 for the Citycarver 30 TFSI.
With all things that ride a bit higher seemingly the default choice for car buyers, and taking in to consideration Audi’s love of a niche in a niche, the arrival of the Audi A1 Citycarver back in July was no big surprise.
Basically an A1 Sportback with a raised ride height, the A1 Citycarver is an ‘Allroad’ version of the compact hatch with the obligatory butch cladding and pretensions of off-road ability. Although a muddy car park is likely to be its toughest challenge.
If that floats your boat for an urban runaround, you can now order the A1 Citycarver in the UK with prices starting at £22,040 for the Citycarver 30 TFSI.
It comes with 17″ alloys, cloth sports seats, 10.25″ digital instruments and 8.8″ infotainment and LED headlights, and a choice of nine paint jobs including contrast roof.
Powered by a 1.0 litre three-pot with 114bhp, the 30 TFSI can be had as a manual or optional seven-speed auto and can get to 62mph in 9.9 seconds.
If that’s a bit pedestrian, you can grab the 35 TFSI version which gets a 1.5 litre with 148bhp and an 8.2 seconds to 62mph for £23,120.
But whichever model you choose you get the butch makeover of new bumpers, black plastic cladding and skid plates and a new grille which is sort of a halfway house between full on Audi ‘Q’ and a regular A1 grille.
The new Audi A1 Citycarver is now available to order at Audi’s UK dealers.
