Audi adds to its ‘Allroad’ offerings with the Audi A1 Citycarver, a half-way house between an Audi Q1 and Audi A1 with raised ride height and butch looks.
There’s been talk of an Audi A1 Allroad or Audi Q1 for a decade, but as all things with a raised ride height appear to sell at the moment Audi has decided to bite the bullet and deliver this, the Audi A1 Citycarver.
Based on the Audi A1 Sportback, the A1 Citycarver gets a raide ride height (around 2″) and bigger alloys – 16″ to 18″ – to give it a bit more presence and make it look like it could cope with a boot sale car park.
Exterior tweaks are exactly what you’d expect from an ‘off-road’ A1 and include some extra body cladding, butched-up wheel arches and a new grille which looks rather like the grille you find on Audi’s fill-blown ‘Q’ SUV models.
Buyers will have the choice of nine exterior colours, and will be able to have a contrast roof in Mythos black metallic or Manhattan grey metallic, with the option of a Black Pack to tone down the shiny bits.
Inside the A1 Citycarver is pretty much what you get in the regular A1, but there are accent highlights in mint, copper, orange or silver-gray, and a choice of three trim levels – advanced, design selection and S line – with safety stuff like Audi pre sense, adaptive cruise, park assist and lane departure all standard.
Expect engine options to match those in the A1 Sportback, and a high-priced, heavy spec, Edition One model to arrive when the A1 Citycarver goes on sale next month.
