The BMW M2 Competition Pack looks set to arrive at the Beijing Motor Show, but details have already been leaked and it looks set to get the M4’s engine.
There’s a new range-topping BMW M2 on the way – the M2 Competition Pack – and rumour is it’s going to debut at the Beijing Motor Show later this month. And it’s getting more power.
Thanks to an error by BMW Australia, we learn that the M2 Competition Pack is indeed on the way and it will be swapping its engine for the one BMW use in the M3 and M4.
That means the M2 Competition Pack will sport 405bhp (a bit down on the M3/M4) from its twin-turbo in-line six, with performance quoted at 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds with BMW’s dual clutch gearbox. There’s also a new exhaust and chassis tweaks.
It doesn’t look like BMW has gone overboard to differentiate the Competition Pack M2 from the regular M2, but it does come with a tweaked black grille, bigger air intakes, bespoke black alloys, new diffuser and tail pipes.
Inside there’s a new red starter button (that’ll make it quicker) as well as configurable M1 and M2 settings on the steering wheel as well as seats from the M4.
No news yet on whether the M2 Competition Pack will be a limited run, or even replace the regular M2, but with a debut later this month in Beijing we should find out soon.
