Citroen has decided they want ‘DS’ to be a standalone brand, and the facelift for the Citroen DS 5 is the first to do that, with no sign of Citroen badges or logos to be found.
At the back – and along the flanks – the new DS 5 is still very familiar, with tweaked lights and chrome exhaust tips.
Inside, the DS 5 gets a new 7″ touchscreen to tidy functions up a bit,. with Infotainment, Sat Nav, Music and MirrorLink for mirroring Android Smartphones. Equipment includes massaging front seats, heated door mirrors, Keyless, ambient lighting, Denon Sound, Blind Spot Monitor and Climate.
Under the bonnet there’s a choice of six engines including the THP 165 with an updated six-speed auto ‘box, a BlueHDi 120 or 180 with manual gearbox (auto option) and the hybrid 4WD option with both a 163 bhp and 37hp electric motor.
Despite the Citroen brand being dropped from the DS 5, it will still go on sale through Citroen’s UK dealers – after a debut at the Geneva Motor Show – although Citroen say it will be found in DS branded zones in their showrooms.
No word on prices for the new DS 5 yet, but the push upmarket will probably mean a price rise.
