Electric MG ZS EV confirmed with 44.5kWh battery
The electric MG ZS EV goes on sale in September in the UK, and MG confirm it will come with a 44.5kWh battery and a likely range around 150-170 miles.
Just last week we revealed the electric MG ZS EV was heading for a UK debut at the London Motor Show, and with the debut has come a few more details of what the electric MG will offer. We’re still convinced the UK version of the electric MG will come with the same spec as the Chinese version, but at least MG has now confirmed part of that with confirmation the UK version will come with a 44.5kWh liquid-cooled battery pack. Which is the same as the Chinese version.
So it makes sense that also means 148bhp from its electric motor and a range likely to be somewhere around 150 miles. Which means much the same as the 4okWh LEAF or the 39kWh version of the Hyundai Kona Electric.
MG also say the EZ EV will be able to rapid charge from 0-80 per cent in 43 minutes, and a home charge with a 7Kw wallbox will take six and a half hours. Which is all quite fine and competitive.
Safety and tech stuff included as standard is decent too, with Adaptive Cruise, Traffic Assist, Blind Spot, AEB and Pedestrian alert all as standard fit.
There’s also a panoramic sliding roof, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB, Keyless and Sat Nav.
Daniel Gregorious, MG’s UK Head of Marketing, said:
The arrival of the MG ZS EV represents the start of MG’s long-term brand and product expansion plan and we’re delighted to be able to share it with the British public for the first time. ZS EV adds a new dimension to the car market by offering high-tech zero-emissions transport to a broader cross-section of buyers.
MG has already allowed visitors to the London Motor Show to place and deposit on the ZS EV, and have already had pushing on 1,000 expressions of interest too.
Not massive, but a ‘budget’ offering in the EV Crossover segment should open up the EV market to a wider audience.
