Electric Porsche Macan confirmed by Porsche for 2021
The next Porsche Macan – dues in 2021 – will be an electric SUV, Porsche confirms, and add to the Porsche Taycan and Taycan Sport Turismo EVs.
It’s taken Porsche a while to confirm it, but now it’s official: the next Porsche Macan SUV – due to arrive in 2021 – will be an electric Porsche SUV. Just as we told you in 2017.Due to arrive following on from the Porsche Taycan (the Mission E that was) due this year, and the Taycan Sport Turismo due in 2021, the Macan EV is set to be the ‘volume’ electric car from Porsche.
Porsche is saying nothing about the electric powertrain likely to be offered in the Macan, but it’s not going to stray too far from the four-wheel drive by two electric motors we’ve already seen on the Taycan.
Just like the Taycan models, the new Electric Macan will be sold in at least three different performance specs with batteries and power growing as you go up the price list culminating, no doubt, with an electric Macan Turbo.
Porsche made the decision to build the new Macan in Leipzig last summer, and confirm it will feature 800v technology and be based on the Porsche PPE architecture for EVs, developed with Audi and likely to underpin an electric Audi Q5 too.
It may be too early, but the rumour mill suggests the Macan EV could make an early appearance at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

“… culminating, no doubt, with an electric Macan Turbo.” A turbo version of an electric drivetrain? Interesting engineering concept!

They will be unable to keep up with demand for the Electric Macan in Los Angeles. it’s already ubiquitous here as the most popular luxury mid-size. This will be fantastic. Now, if it just had a bot more room inside the rear, which the new platform should provide, it will be invincible. there will be no reason to look elsewhere for a luxe SUV. As long as it is priced fairly (is a Porsche ever priced fairly?, lol) !!
