The new Ford B-Max compact people carrier is off to a strong sales start in the UK, with 1,000 already delivered to customers.
If you’ve been watching TV in the UK in the last few weeks, you can’t failed to have noticed the new advert for the Ford B-Max with the guy diving from a board and through the open doors of the B-Max in to a pool below, neatly demonstrating the B-Max’s pillarless open door configuration.
And that eye-catching advert (we’ve posted it below – Ford in Europe need all the help they can get to garner sales!) will no doubt raise awareness of the long-awaited replacement for the old Fiesta-based Fusion MPV and help make the B-Max a success for Ford in a segment they once dominated, but which they’d left to wither on the vine.
But eye-catching advert for the new B-Max or not, the B-Max is already selling well with over 1,000 cars delivered to customers in the last few weeks and orders for 2500 cars received by Ford in the UK before the B-Max even appeared in showrooms. Which is no surprise.
The old Fusion sold very well – at least in the early days – and that looked like a Fiesta that had been to McDonald’s too often, whereas the new B-Max is a cohesive and well thought-out car with lots of clever features – like the pillarless open door configuration – and comes with a decent choice of trim and spec options.
Pick of the crop of the new B-Max is probably the Zetec 1.0T EcoBoost (kiddie taxis do not need to be diesels) which costs £16k, gives you all the clever features of the B-Max and does 55mpg, although there are B-Max options from the £13k 1.4 Studio to the £19k Titanium 1.6 TDCi.
Good car, cleverly conceived and deserves to succeed.
