Hyundai Nexo FCEV cleans London’s air
The Hyundai Nexo Fuel Cell Crossover has been driving round London’s most polluted roads, cleaning the air as it goes.
The Hyundai Nexo FCEV – Hyundai’s very clever new hydrogen fuel cell Crossover – will actually be available in the UK next year, ahead of which Hyundai are bigging up its abilities as much as they can in the hope a chunk of early adopters will be ready to jump in and play, despite steep prices. But rather than focus on just how similar the Nexo FCEV is to, say, a Hyundai Tucson in that you rock up to refuel, it takes just a few minutes, it drives like any other Crossover / SUV and the only difference is you’re making electric on the go, Hyundai are a bit obsessed with how the Nexo cleans the air.
Last month the message was the Brits are worried about air pollution which means they should drive a Nexo, a few weeks after they told us 10,000 Nexos on the road would be the equivalent of planting 60k trees to gobble up CO2 as they started driving the Nexo round London to clean the air.
Having spent a month driving the Nexo round London’s dirtiest roads, Hyundai are keen we know that the 350 miles they did cleaned 918.75kg of air, enough to keep an adult in clean air for two months.
Extrapolate that, and assuming a Nexo driver would do around 10k miles a year, we’ll only need a million Nexos on London’s roads to give clean air for everyone.
Job done.
