It looks like the Hyundai Kona (pictured) is to spawn a performance Kona N
The Hyundai Tucson N – with the powerplant from the i30 N – already looks confirmed, and now its seems there will be a performance Kona N too.
The arrival of a hot hatch from Hyundai with the i30 N certainly raised a few eyebrows, but Hyundai has firmly quashed the naysayers with an appealing and competent hot hatch which can hold its own against the established competition from the likes of Ford, VW and Honda. But the N Performance brand was never going to be about just a single flight of fancy with the i30 N, and Hyundai has plans for a much wider set of N Performance offerings, and an N Line range too to give looks without the get up and go of a full N model.
In Europe we have the i30 N already – and the UK is its second biggest market behind Germany – and in the US there’s the Veloster N, but we already know the Hyundai Tucson N is on its way and a Fastback version of the i30 N is in the mix too.
If that wasn’t enough to be getting on with, it seems Hyundai N boss Albert Biermann is also pushing for a Kona N too, according to Auto Express, instructing engineers to build a Kona test car with the i30 N’s powerplant to build his case.
That will make a total of at least five N Performance models from Hyundai in the not too distant future.
