Hyundai’s Genesis New York Concept (pictured) previews a new G70
The Genesis New York Concept is teased for its New York Motor Show debut by Hyundai, the first look at what will be the new Genesis G70.
Genesis finally became a Hyundai sub-brand in 2015 – after years of Hyundai denying it would ever happen – as Hyundai look to turn Genesis in to their equivalent of Lexus and Infiniti, and add credibility to an assault on the world’s ‘Premium’ brands.
We already have the first Genesis model in the UK – and a handful of Genesis dealers – and they’ll be looking forward to the car that is being shown at the New York Motor Show as the Genesis New York Concept (above), which will turn in to a production Genesis G70, aiming to take on cars like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C Class and Jaguar XE.
The Genesis Concept will be fully revealed next week, but the single image (above) shows a sporty-looking car with a bold grille and Genesis ‘wings’ (which does make it look a bit Aston Martin-like), a sculptured bonnet, front splitter and bold air vents at the side.
Manfred Fitzgerald, who heads up the Genesis Brand, said:
The New York Concept is a progressive concept car that showcases the design quality of the brand. With its expressive volumes and refined design, the New York Concept truly embodies the athletic elegance, which characterizes GENESIS products.
All will be revealed next week.
