The Mazda MX-5 RF Sport Black. Another MX-5 Special Edition
The Mazda MX-5 RF Sport Black arrives as yet another in a long line of MX-5 Special Editions, sporting a blue paint job and the more powerful 158bhp 2.0-litre engine.
The only way you could stop Mazda from keeping on churning out Special Edition models is if you all stop buying them. But as that’s not going to happen as it’s worked perfectly well for so long, so we’re getting another MX-5 Special Edition in the MX-5 RF Sport Black. As you’d expect, the RF Sport Black is based on Mazda’s folding hard top MX-5, and as you’d rightly expect it comes with a black paint job. Except is doesn’t.
In fact, the only colour you can have is Eternal Blue Mica, although it does get a black rear spoiler and a set of black mirrors as well as some gunmetal alloys, a set of floor mats, scuff plates and some new badging.
Other extra kit includes leather, auto wipers, parking sensors at the back, auto lights and a limited slip diff, and comes with Mazda’s 158bhp petrol engine to make it decently fun.
The Mazda MX-5 RF Sport Black, which costs from £25,695, goes on sale at Mazda’s UK dealers on 28 May, but if you’re off to the 2018 Mazda MX-5 Owners Club Spring Rally at Goodwood on Sunday (29 April) you can have an early peek there.
