Jaguar E-Type Reborn as Jaguar Classic delivers restored E-Type
Jaguar Classic is going in to the restoration business with an initial run of 10 Jaguar E-Types costing from £285,000. Debuts at Techno Classica.
Last month, Land Rover Classics revealed they were busy bringing Range Rover Classics back to life, after 2015’s venture in to bringing 25 Series I Land Rovers back to life was such a success. And now its time for Jaguar to try and put the Jaguar restorers out of business.
Jaguar Classic has announced it’s taken on (initially) the task of restoring 10 E-Types, with the first fruit of their endeavours off to the Techno Classica Show in Essen next month to show the classic car world what a ‘New’ Jaguar E-Type looks like.
This first ‘Reborn’ E-Type is a 1965 Series 1 4.2 FHC, a Californian E-Type (hence, we assume, relatively rust free) now finished in Opalescent Gunmetal Grey and in storage since 1983, before Jaguar Classic got their hands on it.
Tim Hannig, Director of Jaguar Land Rover Classic, said:
The launch of E-type Reborn is a hugely exciting development for Jaguar Classic. The E-type is the most iconic sports car of all time, so we are delighted to be able to give new life to expertly selected examples for discerning customers around the world to own and enjoy.
The resources and information available to Jaguar Classic’s expert technicians are unrivalled, which results in the most authentic E-type restorations possible.
Unsurprisingly, Jaguar Classic are keen to point out that they have the ability to restore to their own original 1960s specifications, have decades of experience at rebuilding to concours-winning standards, and use only authentic Jaguar Classic parts where needed.
But they’re also keen to point out that if clients want it they can incorporate later E-Type improvements in to earlier restorations.
That means you could, for example, fit improved cooling, a proper synchromesh gearbox or even Series 2 front brakes to an early Series 1 car to make it more usable, yet still be E-Type ‘Pure’ (sort of).
The first reborn Jaguar E-Type can be seen at the Techno Classica Show in Essen, Germany, next month.
And if you want a reborn Jaguar from Jaguar Classic, makes sure you have at least £300k to spare.
