Jaguar F-Pace SVR in ACTION for the first time
The Jaguar F-Pace SVR arrived in the spring as Jaguar finally gave their successful SUV proper V8 power, and it’s in action for the first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Jaguar is rapidly turning in to a maker of SUVs with a sideline in sports cars and sports saloons, with the recent arrival of both the Jaguar E-Pace, and, especially, the electric Jaguar I-Pace, making it clear what Jaguar’s sales priorities are.But it was the Jaguar F-Pace which led the way in unlocking more sales performance for Jaguar when it arrived in 2015, and is now Jaguar’s best-selling model by far, selling as many as the XE and XF saloons combined.
Surprisingly, it took Jaguar until this year – three years on from the arrival of the F-Pace – to deliver a halo performance model, but that finally happened a few months ago when the Jaguar F-Pace SVR arrived with 542bhp from its 5.0 litre supercharged V8, a chunk of fettling to its underpinnings and a £75,000 price tag.
Despite an arrival in the spring, the F-Pace SVR still hasn’t been seen in action in the UK, but Jaguar are putting that right by letting it loose on the Goodwood Hillclimb at next week’s Festival of Speed.
It arrives at Goodwood alongside the UK’s first look at the Jaguar XJ50 – a bit of a half-hearted celebration of the XJ’s 50th – as well as the bonkers XE SV Project 8 and the Invictus GT4 Racing F-TYPE SVR, which are both taking to the hill.
Unsurprisingly, Jaguar will have plenty of current product on show at Goodwood – especially the I-Pace – and there’s an F-Type Drift Experience alongside the Jaguar stand for a bit of showboating.
The 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed starts on Thursday 12 July.
