Jaguar I-PACE EV is the UK Car of the Year 2019
The Jaguar I-PACE, Jaguar’s impressive electric SUV, has been voted the 2019 UK car of the Year, beating off competition from Volvo and Alpine.
Jaguar is not in a great place at the moment with sales across its range falling out of bed, and questions about its long term future. But there is a shining light in the Jaguar range, and one which probably proclaims its future direction – the Jaguar I-Pace.Having beat the German competition to the market with the electric Jaguar I-Pace SUV, it seems the main obstacle to domination is production levels, although in January Jaguar delivered over 1,000 I-Pace – more than the XJ and F-Type combined.
Now, to add to the gongs the I-Pace has already garnered – including German Car of the Year, Norwegian Car of the Year and China Green Car of the Year – the Jaguar I-Pace has now won the 2019 UK Car of the Year Award to add to its 55 awards.
The UK Car of the Year Awards are judged by a panel of 29 UK automotive journalists, with John Challen, Director of the Awards, saying:
As vehicle manufacturers take electric vehicles more seriously, Jaguar is leading the pack with I-PACE, which offers fantastic range and performance as well as a stylish and spacious interior for driver and passengers. The UK Car of the Year Awards judges are always keen to recognise innovation and that is certainly the case in 2019.
The Jaguar I-Pace was pushed to the last in the awards, narrowly beating the Alpine A110 in second and the Volvo XC40 in third.
