Jaguar i-Pace: All you need to know about Jaguar’s Electric SUV in a 12 minute video

The new Jaguar i-Pace electric SUV has finally arrived in production guise, and we have a 12 minute video from Jaguar which tells you all you need to know about the new i-Pace.

The new Jaguar i-Pace seems to have been on the way for a very long time, but it was finally revealed last night in Graz – where it will be built – and is very much a Concept car made reality.

The design is virtually unchanged from the i-Pace Concept, and although we admit to a little less than outright enthusiasm for its slightly odd proportions when the Concept arrived, it’s grown on us.

The constraints designers are subject to when they need to house a big lump of an engine at the front are gone in the i-Pace, and that’s allowed Ian Callum to deliver a car with short bonnet, cab forward Crossover looks which are really not very Jaguar at all. And yet they are.

The cabin looks like a return to properly appealing Jaguar interiors, the electric powertrain allows the i-Pace to offer more interior space than its exterior dimensions would suggest, the touchscreen infotainment and instrument and control screens look good, and material choice looks premium.

The 90kW battery pack delivers power to a pair of motors good for 395bhp and 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds, they can be charged quickly (subject to the right charger) and there’s a 300 mile range (probably 240-ish in the real world).

It all adds up to a car that will give Tesla real pause for thought, and the promise of a properly premium electric Crossover from a car maker who knows how to build a car that’s good to drive.
