Jeep Compass SUV arrives back in the UK
The new Jeep Compass has gone on sale in the UK to take aim at cars like the Nissan Qashqai in the compact SUV market. Costs from £22,995.
It’s more than a year since the new Jeep Compass was revealed, but it’s finally going on sale in the UK as Jeep look to take a piece of the compact SUV market still dominated by cars like the Nissan Qashqai.
In size terms, the new Compass slots in to Jeep’s UK range between the Renegade and Cherokee, with Jeep proclaiming excellent on-road dynamics and off-road abilities which beat anything in its class. As you would hope from Jeep (although the claim seems a bit model dependent).
Engine choices are a pair of petrols and a trio of diesels, with the petrol 1.4 litre MultiAir II Turbo delivering FWD in 138bhp guise and 4WD with auto in 168bhp form.
The diesel options kick off with a 1.6 litre MultiJet II with FWD and 118bhp, with a 2.0 litre diesel with either 138bhp or 168bhp available, both with 4WD but a nine-speed auto ‘box for the higher powered engine.
As well as a decent range of engine options, the UK Compass also gets a wide choice of trim levels – Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
Standard stuff on the Compass Sport includes 16″ alloys, LED tail lights, Air Con, Cruise and Forward Collision Warning, with the Longitude adding 17″ alloys, Fogs, Reverse Camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8.4″ Nav, Climate and Keyless.
At the top of the tree sit the Compass Limited and Compass Trailhawk, with the Compass the luxury offering and the Trailhawk the rufty-tufty option.
The Limited comes with 18″ alloys, Halogen Projector lights, Silver Roof Rails, Privacy Glass, leather power heated seats, heated steering wheel, auto wipers, Parkview reverse camera, Park Assist, blind spot monitoring and parallel and perpendicular park assist.
The ‘Best in Class’ claim for the Compass’s off-road abilities lies with the Trailhawk, which comes with raised off-road suspension, off-road bumpers, rear two hook, Rock transmission mode, all-season floor mats, hill descent, 8.4″ audio and nav and front and rear skid plates.
You’ll have to wait until summer 2018 if you want a Compass Trailhawk, but the rest of the new Compass range is now available to order at Jeep’s UK dealers.
