Just what is this Nissan Crossover tease for Frankfurt?
A new Nissan Crossover is being teased for a Frankfurt Motor Show debut, but what exactly is it Nissan are planning to reveal with their ‘New Way Forward’ concept?
The Crossover has been a big success for Nissan, with cars like the Nissan Qashqai and Juke taking the place of more mundane offerings – like the Primera – in the Nissan range, and driving sales for the Japanese company for the last decade.
Now, Nissan are teasing a new Crossover Concept for a Frankfurt Motor Show debut next week, but beyond the single teaser image (above), Nissan are being tight-lipped about what they’re going to reveal.
All Nissan have to say is that the new concept is designed to “innovate and move the bar higher” than the Juke, Qashqai and X-Trail ranges, and will “…create a new way to feel driving excitement”. Which doesn’t give us much to go on.
It’s possible that the tease is for a replacement for the Juke, but what seems more likely is that this is the first look at a new direction for the Nissan Z car as the 370Z comes to the end of its life.
Perhaps Nissan are looking to create a model like the Aston Martin DBX (albeit at a much lower price point) as a new Z car with all the sporting pretensions of the 370Z – a sort of high-riding 370Z GT Allroad?
That would certainly be a new direction, and one that could inject life in to Z car sales in much the same way the Qashqai did for mainstream models when it arrived.
No doubt all will be revealed at Frankfurt next week.
