Kia cee’d Trim 4 with more goodies & more power launches – prices & specs

Kia has revealed a new range topping cee’d – the Kia cee’d 4 – with bigger specification and more power.

The Kia cee’d – perhaps best known as Top Gear’s latest car for celebs to thrash round Dunsfold – is a decent car. And now it gets a bit more decent with a new range-topping cee’d ‘4’ with a bigger spec and – very welcome – extra horses to play with.

Whether you opt for the regular cee’d or the estate ( the cee’d SW) the changes and improvements are the same.

In comes a bit more power in the form of a tweak or two to the 1.6 litre CRDi which now gets 126bhp to play with instead of the more humble models’ 113bhp. Not enough to take a Gallardo at the lights, admittedly, but it all helps.

The cee’d 4 comes with a six-speed manual ‘box as standard (you can opt for 4-speed auto – but don’t bother) and a 0-60mph of 10.6 seconds. Economy is reasonable at 62.8mpg and emissions come out at 119g/km (figures for manual cee’d saloon).

To make the cee’d 4 stand out a bit Kia has endowed it with a set of 17″ alloys, Privacy and a black bezel round the headlights.

Inside there’s Leather and heated seats, Cruise, SatNav, Bluetooth and a rear parking camera. Which should give the still reasonably priced cee’d a more upmarket feel than its less well endowed siblings.

Those prices are a starting point of £19,195 for the cee’d 4 saloon and £20,345 for the cee’d 4 SW which, with a standard 100,000 mile, seven year warranty, makes for some well-equipped economical motoring; you could throw the cee’d 4 away when the warranty ends and it won’t have cost you much more than £50 a week.

You could do a lot worse.
