Kia are back with another video tease for what we assume is the new Kia GT – and expected to arrive at the Detroit Motor Show – with a 0-62mph demo.
Just over a week ago we had what appeared to be a video tease for the new Kia GT, ahead of its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January.
Kia didn’t actually say the car they were teasing was the Kia GT – first seen as a stunning concept back in 2011 – but as we also had a photo of what appears to be the production Kia GT, it seems highly likely.
The last video tease for the GT was busy showing us that the new Kia is a very sporty number, and that it can reach speeds of over 150mph. This time it’s about how quickly it can do that.
It seems the new GT can get to 62mph in just 5.1 seconds, which is a chunk quicker than any other Kia can hustle. But how does it do that?
We’re assuming it’s because it uses the 311bhp 2.0 litre turbo we first saw in another Kia Concept – the GT4 Stinger – back in 2014. But whatever it uses it does make it the quickest Kia to 62mph to date. Kia said:
0-100kph. A benchmark for any car operating on a higher level of performance, and the number that enthusiasts look for first. The fastest-accelerating Kia to date represents a new paradigm of performance, its heart-pounding power encouraging you to grip the wheel a little more tightly.
With the Detroit Motor Show not opening until January, it seems likely we’ll be in for a few more Kia GT teases yet.
