Kia Sorento gets a facelift – and there’s a new Sorento GT Line too
The Kia Sorento gets a bit of a facelift for the 2018 model year, with cosmetic titivations, new eight-speed automatic and a Sorento GT Line too.
Kia are busy gearing up for Frankfurt, first with yesterday’s Picanto X-Line arriving with added butch and (almost) becoming Kia’s smallest SUV in the process, and now we get a bit of titivation for Kia’s biggest SUV with a facelift for the Kia Sorento.
It’s the usual facelift fodder for Kia’s seven-seat SUV, with some slightly modified bumpers, new LED headlights and tail lights, new alloys and a darker look for Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grille.
Inside there’s a new steering wheel, an updated 8″ infotainment and Sat Nav, improved soft touch materials and an updated instrument cluster. There’s also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on offer.
There’s also now the option of black or black and stone cloth or leather, as well as brown or light grey leather, new paint options – Rich Espresso and Gravity Blue – and new designs for the Sorento’s 17″, 18″ and 19″ alloys.
The new kid on the block is the Kia Sorento GT Line which comes with four lamp LED Fogs, red brake callipers, more prominent sills, chrome twin exhaust, black leather quilted seats with grey contrast stitching and splashes of satin chrome.
Under the skin it’s the same Hobson’s 2.2 litre diesel with 197bhp for the UK (Europe also gets a 2.0 litre diesel and a 2.4 litre petrol), but it can now be had with a more modern eight-speed automatic gearbox which improves emissions and economy by a bit more than eight per cent.
The 2018 Kia Sorento is heading for a public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week and will go on sale soon after.
