The first Koenigsegg Agera RS created for a European client will debut at the 2016 Salon Prive event this week, complete with gold leaf highlights.
It was at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015 that the Koenigsegg Agera RS was revealed, moving the Agera S and Agera R forward with technology from the One:1 and less weight.Koenigsegg planned just 25 units of the Agera RS, but despite a price tag that makes cars like the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari look like budget options, the entire Agera RS run was sold out by the end of 2015.
Selling out the run of cars is one thing, but building them quite another when it’s a case of five men in a (very high tech) shed in Sweden responsible for every element of construction, so only now are the first customer cars starting to arrive.
The first US customer car made its debut at Pebble this month, and now it’s the turn of the first European Agera RS to make its debut at this week’s Salon Prive at Blenheim Palace.
This Agera RS has been dubbed the ‘Nariya’ by its owner (it’s a family thing, apparently), and despite the already hefty price tag the Agera carries, this owner has a distinct penchant for gold and has had lashings of it highlight his car – inside and out.
Christian von Koenigsegg and the boys in the shed entrusted all the gold leaf work to Ettore ‘Blaster’ Callegaro, an Italian expert in the art of applying gold leaf to cars and motorbikes, who travelled to Koenigsegg’s Angelholm site in Sweden to spend a fortnight carefully applying the gold leaf.
As well as the gold leaf on the blue-tinted clear-carbon finish exterior, the tub chassis gets the same finish and the interior – in blue Alcantara with gold piping and stitching – also gets treated to gold leaf highlights and an 18 carat yellow gold ‘Naraya’ name plate on the dash set with 155 cultured diamonds.
Under the skin the Agera RS Naraya gets the 1160hp twin turbo V8, and will sit alongside a One:1 finished in blue-tinted clear carbon and the final Agera R finished in black.
Salon Privé runs from 1-3 September at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.
