Lamborghini Urus SUV plays in the SAND with its ‘Sabbia’ mode
The new Lamborghini Urus SUV is due to launch in a few weeks time, ahead of which we get video of the Urus playing in sand dunes like a real SUV.
It’s taken Lamborghini five years to take the Urus SUV from Concept to the real world, and it’s production debut will happen in a few weeks on 4 December 2017.We’ve already had a couple of teasers recently for the Urus, with a bit of a video tease in September, and a look back at the original Lamborghini SUV – the LM002 – in October.
That video of the LM002 was an opportunity for Lamborghini to proclaim they were the first to deliver a performance SUV, and that the LM002 made it possible for other car makers to follow. Really?
Still, the new Urus looks like it will be more Crossover than SUV, with its road-focus likely to compromise its off-road ability.
But while the Urus is never going to be Land Rover good off-road, the latest Urus tease leaves us in no doubt that Lamborghini will be endowing the Urus with a level of off-road ability it will probably never need.
A video of the Urus blatting across sand dunes – an SUV-maker’s favourite way of proving their SUVs really can do what they proclaim – makes it clear the Urus comes equipped with the goods it needs to tackle the rough stuff.
The driving mode functions are highlighted, and in addition to the usual Lamborghini Strada, Sport and Corsa, there’s also Sabbia, Terra and Neve (Sand, Mud and Snow) to make this a go anywhere Lamborghini.
Expect another tease or two before the Urus actually arrives in December.
