London Taxi TX4 Final Edition – designed by KAHN Automobiles

A run of just five London Taxi TX4 models has been built by Kahn Automobiles to celebrate the end of a Black Cab era as London Cabbies go electric.

It does seem quite fitting that there should be a very special, final edition London Taxi TX4 as the old oil-burning cab gets put out to pasture, replaced by the TX5 Electric London Taxi. But who to create it?

Surprisingly, London Taxi Company has picked Kahn Automobiles in Bradford – more used to creating some extreme premium and Range Rover makeovers – to design the final edition Black Cab. And it looks quite restrained and appealing.

Each of the five TX4 ‘Last of Line’ models comes in a choice of five Rolls-Royce two-tone paint jobs, with the RR theme added to the interior with a ‘Starlight’ headliner.

As you’d expect, quilted leather dominates the interior, with Piano Black instrument surround, colour-coded seat belts, Privacy glass, leather steering wheel, Final Edition branding and custom sill plates.

Under the bonnet is a 2.5 litre four-pot diesel from VW Motori with a bit of a tweak – although it’ll be no match for Kahn’s usual cars – and the spec includes 5-speed automatic ‘box, climate control, Bluetooth and electric windows.

Kahn Automobiles have sold three of the five ‘Last of Line’ taxis, and we assume they’re pitching the last two at Stephen Fry or a lottery-winning ex-cabbie.
