Lynk & Co 02 REVEALED
The Lynk & Co 02 – the third model from the Chinese company – has been revealed as a crossover smaller that the 01 and heading for Europe.
We’re still slightly puzzled by the Lynk & Co o2 – teased last week – as the third model Lynk & Co have spun of the CMA Platform which underpins the Volvo XC40.Lynk & Co say it’s a smaller take on the o1 – but not much smaller – and they’re calling it a ‘Sports Crossover’. So perhaps it’s aimed at a younger demographic looking for a crossover that’s a bit more ‘lifestyle’ than the o1?
The 02 gets a shorter wheelbase and shorter overall length than the o1 – and sits a bit lower – which does make it look a bit more purposeful and a bit more dynamic than the 01, and it’ll come in a range of two-tone paint jobs. Which sounds rather like the XC40 R-Design.
Inside it’s a decent-looking offering, although not as cool as the XC40, and it majors on touchscreen, infotainment and connectivity, but unlike most cars it won’t come with a big range of options just a series of fixed-price ‘collections.
The aim is to push the 02 in Europe on a subscription model – just like your mobile phone – and it will be built by Volvo in Ghent, alongside the 01 and the Volvo XC40.
Lynk & Co haas given no indication of what site under the bonnet of the 02, but the major offerings are likely to be Volvo’s 1.5 litre three-pot with an electric motor and plug-in charging, good for around 30 miles.
Lynk & Co’s Head of Design, Andreas Nillson, said:
Sporty, adventurous, dynamic, daring, confident and fun, the 02 sits at the absolute centre of our brand. A shorter wheelbase, lower ride height and centre of gravity – combined with two-tone colour-schemes and softer, voluptuous surfaces, muscular haunches and wheel-arches – give 02 a solid and confident stance while being agile and sporty in character.
