Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake & CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake: OFFICIAL

The Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake, and the CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake, have been revealed ahead of going on sale in the UK in January 2015.

We always knew that Mercedes was going to build a mini CLS Shooting Brake based on the CLA, and now it’s arrived with a choice of petrol and diesel engines including a range-topping, rather barking, CLA 45 AMG version.

The looks of the CLA Shooting Brake may mimic that of the CLS – and be more focused on style than load capacity – but the CLA Shooting Brake still manages a load-lugging capacity of 1354 litre with the seats down (a less useful 495 litres with the back seats in place).

Aside from the swoopy estate bit bolted on the back, the CLA Shooting Brake is pure CLA from the nose to the back seats.

Engine options are a pair of diesels and a trio of petrols (plus the CLA 45 AMG), with the CLA 200 CDI offering 136 PS and 72.4mpg and the CLA 220 CDI 177PS. A CLA 200 CDI 4MATIC and a 220 CDI 4MATIC will join the range in September 2015. On the petrol front there’s a 122 PS CLA 180, a 156 PS CLA 200, a 211 PS CLA 250 and a CLA 250 4MATIC too.

Across the board options and specs are much the same as the regular CLA, but there are a few Shooting Brake specific additions including an electric tailgate and a load compartment package to add to the list of boxes to tick.

The range-topping CLA 45 AMG is much the same as the saloon version (apart from the shed on the back) with a 2.0 litre turbo offering 355bhp and a 0-62mph in a scant 4.7 seconds, although it won’t make its public debut until Geneva in spring 2015.

Other choices for the CLA Shooting Brake include the Orange Art Edition, AMG Line and Urban trim, with the Limited Edition Orange Art Edition getting orange rings round the headlights, AMG Line and Night Packages, 18″ AMG black alloys with orange rim, Exclusive Package for the interior with leather/DINAMICA sports seats and orange highlights.

The Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake goes on sale in January 2015 with first deliveries in March in the UK.
