We’ve been talking about a Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series almost since the SLS first arrived. But it took until September this year for Mercedes to confirm the SLS Black Series was coming.
Two years ago we reckoned it would get pushing on for 700bhp and manage to scoot 60mph in 3 seconds. And according to reports coming from Germany, that’s not a million miles out.
Auto Motor und Sport are reporting that Mercedes plans for the SLS Black are well under way, and that the 6.2 litre V8 lurking under the long bonnet of the SLS will get pushed to 650bhp, which should be enough to see that 3 second o-60mph.
The SLS Black will get bigger brakes, a new nose, more vents on the bonnet, wider track and bigger wheel arches and come with a more track oriented suspension setup. Read that as needing a season ticket for the chiropractor, but on decent roads the SLS AMG Black should be stunning.
Expect to see the Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 before hitting showrooms in early 2013. Expected to cost from £250k.
