[nggallery id=2365 template=customlinks]
The MINI John Cooper Works Challenge is a track-focused, road-legal MINI JCW Special just for the UK, costing £32,000 and debuting at Goodwood.
The MINI John Cooper Works Challenge is revealed ahead of a public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month as a run of 100 track-focused, but road-legal, JCW MINIs just for the UK and costing £32,000.Despite the strong price (£9k more than the regular MINI JCW) the JCW Challenge doesn’t get any more power, so it has the same 228bhp 2.0 litre turbo good for 0-62mph in 6.3 seconds as the regular JCW.
Cosmetic changes are not that enormous either, with bigger air intakes at the front, tweaked wheel arch extensions and a back spoiler – all bits from the JCW Pro Accessories Pack – and the interior comes with carbon black cloth seats and numbered plaque.
Under the skin there’s new dampers units and coilover springs from Nitron adjustable for road and track, a limited slip diff from Quaife, Mintex brake pads and 17″ alloys.
There are no options for the JCW Challenge, so every car will get the same standard spec.
That spec includes six-speed manual gearbox, a White Silver paint job with Challenge graphics, black 17″ alloys, black roof and mirror caps and a black interior with Piano Black trim.
The MINI John Cooper Works Challenge will get its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month, but if you feel the urge to spend as much on a MINI as a new Focus RS, then MINI’s UK dealers are already taking orders.
