The Mitsubishi Mirage – Mitsubishi’s budget City Car – gets a makeover for 2020 with new looks, some new materials and updated tech.
It does seem likely that City cars – affordable compact transport for urban areas – will start to disappear before long as emissions regulations make it all but impossible for car makers to build and sell them profitably at sensible prices.
But, for now, there are still plenty of options, and one of the cheapest is the Mitsubishi Mirage, which has been given a makeover for 2020 to make it more appealing and a better ‘family’ fit.
The big changes come on the outside of the updated Mirage, with a completely new front end getting Mitsubishi’s ‘Dynamic Shield’ looks, complete with new grille, and some fancy new LED headlights, whilst at the back the bumper gets chunkier and there’s new LED lights too, as well as a new set of 15″ wheels and some new colour choices.
Inside there are fewer changes, although Mitsubishi do say there are more soft-touch finishes than before and the infotainment gets a 7″ screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
It looks like there’s nothing new under the skin, with the Mirage sticking with the 79bhp 1.2 litre trhree-pot engine, which is good for 60mpg.
The revamped Mirage goes on sale in the UK in the New Year, and you can probably expect a small increase in the current starting price of £11,300.
