Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S heading for Paris Motor Show

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S is heading for the Paris Motor Show, seemingly previewing an up-scale version of the Outlander plug-in hybrid.

The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV may not be perfect, but it offers something no other car maker is able to offer at the moment – a tax-efficient plug-in hybrid SUV/Crossover for the same money as a conventionally-powered car. And it looks like Mitsubishi are planning to make the Outlander PHEV even more appealing.

We have the first photos of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S – which is heading for a debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show – and as far as we can tell this is an upmarket Outlander PHEV with cosmetic tweaks and more toys.

Calling the Outlander PHEV S a ‘Sporty and Sophisticated’ take on the current car, the S Concept looks to have new bumpers front and back and, say Mitsubishi, comes with a ‘refined interior’.

It is possible that Mitsubishi are planning to give the PHEV S a bit more power and a more sport suspension setup, as they talk about it being ‘Sporty and Sophisticated’ with the new look offering ‘Spirited’ 4×4 performance.

That would be a big plus, because if you use the PHEV for longer journeys its lack of any sort of sophisticated grunt is a bit wearing; around town, with the electric motor doing its job, it’s fine

We’ll probably have to wait until Paris to find out of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept-S is just a cosmetic job or whether Mitsubishi really has made it more appealing to drive too.
