Mitsubishi partners in the FIRST Electric EV multi-make Showroom in the UK
Mitsubishi Motors – makers of the Successful Outlander PHEV – partners in a new multi-brand EV showroom in Milton Keynes to promote electric cars.
It could be argued that we’re almost at the point where electric cars are becoming a properly viable alternative to ICE cars.Range is increasing all the time, costs are dropping as battery prices continue to fall, and the general car-buying public is now familiar with the idea of electricity as part of the equation in hybrids, plug-in hybrids and pure BEVs.
So it’s probably a good time to start thinking about how EVs are marketed going forward, and Mitsubishi clearly believe that they can be sold in multi-brand EV showrooms, where all things electric car are all under one roof.
So Mitsubishi has become a founding partner of the Electric Vehicle Experience Centre (EVEC) in Milton Keynes along with five other manufacturers to showcase a range of electric and plug-in vehicles.
As the makes of the very successful Outlander PHEV, Mitsubishi are in a strong position to offer a car that costs the same as a diesel version, and other car makers will struggle to compete. But not everyone wants a plug-in SUV, so choice across brands is key the the EVEC.
Managed by Chargemaster – and funded by the Milton Keynes ‘Go Ultra Low’ City Scheme – it’s part of a plan by Milton Keynes to see 23 per cent of cars registered locally as EVs by 2021.
It’s an interesting take on how to sell EVs – or any cars – with similar product from diverse manufacturers all under one roof. A bit like a Car Department Store.
