Mitsubishi Shogun drops in price by up to £5,000

In an effort to increase sales of the Mitsubishi Shogun SUV, Mitsubishi has revealed price drops across the range of up to £5,000.

We have to confess we have a big soft spot for the Mitsubishi Shogun.

The Shogun is an SUV in the old sense of the word; it’s good at towing and mud and going anywhere, but it’s a bit of a boat on road. But, once you’re used to its ways, it’s very hard not to appreciate, and revel in, its strengths.

But the Shogun has been around for a very long time – the last comprehensive upgrade was as decade ago, and in that time it’s lost out in a big way to cars like the Land Rover Discovery which now manage to combine SUV ruggedness with decent on-road manners.

So to keep sales of the Shogun flowing ahead of a new Shogun that’s probably another couple of years away, Mitsubishi has taken a flame thrower to their UK price list and started again, with prices dropping across the Shogun range by up to £5,000.

Even the entry-level Shogun SWB SG2 with a manual box drops by £3,900 to just £26,199, and the range topping SG4 LWB Auto goes down from £41,799 to £36,799.

At those prices it should be enough to see a few more Shoguns driving out of Mitsubishi’s UK showrooms, just as long as buyers give it a chance and don’t just opt for the Land Rover Discovery as the default choice.
