The new Audi TT RS – revealed at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show – goes on sale in the UK this month as a coupe and roadster, costing from £51,800.
It’s more than two years since the current Audi TT arrived, but it took until April this year for the range-topping Audi TT RS to arrive – at the Bejing Motor Show – and now the TT RS is about to go on sale in the UK, costing from £51,800 for the TT RS Coupe and £53,550 for the TT RS Roadster. For your something over £50k you get a TT which can really be considered a proper junior supercar, with its 2.5 litre TFSI engine delivering 395bhp and a 0-62mph of just 3.7 seconds (3.9s for the Roadster) – the blink of an eye behind the Audi R8.
The impressive power goes to all four wheels through Audi’s seven-speed S tronic transmission, with Comfort, Auto, Dynamic and Individual modes setting up the gearbox as well as the steering, throttle and exhaust flaps to tailor the drive to your needs.
Limited to the normal 155mph, fitting the TT RS with the optional Dynamic Plus Package lifts top speed to 174mph – and adds a sports exhaust – with the optional Magnetic Ride adding a more dynamic suspension setup.
Standard alloys are 19″ in silver, matt titanium or gloss black, but you can spend more on 20″ with a seven-spoke design, and they can cover option carbon ceramic brakes if you want.
An interesting option is the arrival of Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) tail lights as an optional replacement for the standard LEDs, and you can have Matrix LED headlights instead of the standard LEDs too.
There are nine colour choices, including Nardo grey and Catalunya red which are specific to the RS, as well as additional Audi Exclusive options, and can be combined with optional matt aluminium or gloss black styling packages.
Inside there’s Nappa leather as standard and an RS steering wheel, a 12.3″ Audi virtual cockpit with special RS screen which highlights the rev counter and displays additional data, MMI Nav Plus and Audi Connect, but there’s plenty of scope to spec up with stuff like Audi Phone Box and B&O Sound.
Orders for the Audi TT RS open later in the month (September 2016) at Audi’s UK dealers, with the TT RS Coupe costing from £51,800 and the TT RS Roadster from £53,550.
