Ford has revealed that the 2016 Focus RS can get to 62mph in 4.7 seconds, hit a top speed of 165mph and will cost from £28,940. The Focus RS order book is now open.
The 2016 Ford Focus RS is now on sale in Ford’s UK dealers, as Ford confirm it will get to 62mph in just 4.7 seconds, on to a top speed of 165mph and will cost from £28,940.As we already know, the performance the Focus RS delivers is made possible by a tweaked version of Ford’s 2.3 litre EcoBoost engine which delivers 345bhp and 324lb/ft of torque, with an overboost delivering up to 346lb/ft for up to 15 seconds.
The RS also gets all-wheel-drive with Torque vectoring to tame make sure the 345bhp can be put down on the road, together with dynamic torque vectoring to keep the grip where it’s needed.
But to stop the RS being too sanitised with its 4WD platform, Ford will let you dial back in some fun with a ‘Drift’ button, and Launch Control to make sure you can get away in a hurry when you want to.
Jürgen Gagstatter, Ford’s Focus RS Programme Engineer, said:
The all-new Focus RS delivers stunning performance and innovative technology at a price that will make both our customers and premium automakers look twice.
After experiencing the acceleration and cornering capability of the Focus RS, drivers will question the sense in spending almost £10,000 more on a premium competitor.
The new Ford Focus RS will start to arrive in customers’ hands in early 2016.
